BEST PARIS COFFEE SHOPS

PARIS COFFEE SHOPS FOR YOU TO TRY. XX

Paris is know for many things - it’s romantic streets, breathtaking architecture, the Eiffel tower, and so much more. But if you’re like me, I love exploring a city’s restaurants and coffee shops. Today, let’s chat about my favorite coffee shops from our time there! From classic cafes with rich history to trendy spots with creative twists, there are plenty of coffee shops to choose from in Paris. As someone who loves exploring the city's coffee scene, we visited sooo many coffee shops and curated a list of my favorites just for you.. Whether you're a local looking for a new spot or you are planning your next trip to Paris, this blog post is for you. Traveling is hard enough, so I got you on the coffee bestie.

First let’s talk about “third wave” coffee…

Third wave coffee is a movement that has emerged in the coffee industry over the last few decades. It refers to the approach of treating coffee as more than just a commodity, and instead views it as a high-quality, artisanal product. Third wave coffee shops prioritize sourcing high-quality beans from specific regions, roasting them to bring out unique flavors and aromas, and brewing them using precise methods that highlight their unique characteristics. This focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail has resulted in a coffee culture that values complexity and nuance over convenience and speed. If you would rather go to a Parisian style cafe, they will offer espresso shots, and “American coffee,” which is espresso shots with hot water on the side. So we made it a priority to only go to third wave shops. The following coffee shops are all “third wave” and Kyle and I would order anything from a pour over, a drip, cappuccino. I stayed away from “lattes'“ in Europe since it was so much milk and opted for cappuccinos instead - less milk, just as much caffeine, and just as good! In No particular order - here go:

TERRES DE CAFE

Location: 36 Rue des Blancs Mantaeux 75004 Paris

About: A super cute cafe thats close to the Louvre. It is small but has ample seating with a big drink and baked goods menu. You could also purchase their bags of coffee for a keepsake when you return home. There are a few locations, but I attached the location we went to! There is a small location and larger one right around the corner from each other. We were looking for a place to sit for an hour or two before we kept exploring the city, and the larger location was the perfect place.

CAFE KITSUNE

Location: 208 Rue de Rivoli 75001 Paris France.

About: this was my favorite cappuccino in France, located close to the Louvre. We started our first day here, and it was just what I needed to kick the trip off right. This spot is sooo cute and instagrammable. They offer a large variety of drinks and baked goods. It’s also attached to a cute clothing store, so feel free to grab a coffee and browse. This specific location does not offer a ton of seating, it’s definitely a grab and go vibe. We got our coffee to go and headed to the Louvre.

DOSE

Location: 82 Place du docteur Felix Lobligeois 75017 Paris.

About: Okay, grab breakfast AND coffee here - or go for brunch! They also have a few locations, but I attached the location we went to. We wanted to explore more local cities so we spent our sunday morning at Dose and got the Avocado toast, two cappucinos’s, and their local jam with a baguette. It has more of a “local” feel - which is a priority for us! We love to truly immerse ourselves in the culture and try and stay away from touristy things. It is within walking distance to the Moulin Rouge if you are wanting to see that on your trip!

LAI ZE

Location: 19 Rue de Montmorency 75003 Paris

About: This is a new cafe and we love the area of town this is in. It’s great to grab a break from shopping, or grab your favorite drink to go to continue exploring. If you do go here, I'd suggest that you get your coffee “for here” and sit and enjoy your drink in their beautiful local and handmade mugs! The coolest cups i’ve ever seen - I wanted to take them all home, but sadly they would have broken in my luggage. The design and aesthetic of this shop was the coolest and most unique out of all the ones we visited. It was a super inspiring space that I know you would love.

CAFE BOGATO

Location: 5 Rue st Merri 75004 Paris

About: This is also a new cafe with tons of drink and food options. It’s in such a cute walkable area and very close to a subway stop! They have such a fun and playful look and menu! Grab lunch or brunch here and then enjoy the city to explore other spots in Paris!

LE PELETON CAFE

About: This fun cafe has locations all over the city. They aren’t just a coffee shop, it’s a community - You can take bike tours with their community through the city! Their coffee is incredible and they offer wifi and plenty of seating for you to take a break during the day.
